Bangla Shasya Bima (বাংলা শস্য বীমা) is a new crop Insurance scheme that was launched by the Chief Minister of West Bengal. The scheme is primarily concerned with farmers and crop protection. This Bangla Shasya Bima Prakalpa gives farmers insurance in case their land or crops are damaged by natural disasters like floods, fires, or landslides. This insurance facility is available to farmers for both Kharif and Ravi crops.

বাংলা শস্য বীমা কি?
বাংলা শস্য বীমা এর লক্ষ্য হল কৃষি খাতে উৎপাদনে সহায়তা করা। অপ্রত্যাশিত ঘটনার কারণে ফসলের ক্ষতি/ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত কৃষকদের আর্থিক সহায়তা প্রদান করবে এই বাংলার শস্য বীমা। এছাড়াও চাষাবাদে কৃষকদের ধারাবাহিকতা নিশ্চিত করতে কৃষকদের আয় স্থিতিশীল করা এই বাংলার শস্য বীমার একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ লক্ষ্য।
এর মাধ্যমে নিম্নলিখিত ফসল গুলি বীমার যোগ্য:
- 1) খাদ্য শস্য (শস্য, বাজরা এবং ডাল),
- 2) তৈলবীজ
- 3) বার্ষিক বাণিজ্যিক / উদ্যান ফসল (পাট, আলু এবং আখ)

Some Important Facts about the WB Shasya Bima Prokolpo
- The Bangla Shasya Bima Prakalpa is a social security scheme by Govt of West Bengal and the purpose of the Scheme is wellbeing of the farmers.
- The Agriculture Insurance Company of India play a huge role under the Scheme as it provides Insurance to needy farmers.
- The premium amount will be cleared by the West Bengal Government.
- The amount of Insurance will be calculated based on the unit of surface area (hectare basis).
- The premium bonus will be phased out in 5 years. Farmers those who are taking loans and those farmers who are not taking any loans can also take advantage of the Insurance.
- Government provides insurance in four stages such as – loss while planting and during cultivation, during to post cutting period and for unfavorable weather situation.
Eligibility Criteria for Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme
- Candidate applying for the scheme should be a permanent residence of West Bengal.
- Crops should be planted based on Government gadget notification.
- Land deed should be provided during applying. If farmers are using lease land then they should provide land lease certificate.
- Aadhar card, voter id card and ration card will be required.
