Bikash Bhavan Scholarship 2023: The Bikash Bhavan Scholarship is a Merit Cum Means Scholarship which was brought into force by the government of West Bengal. This was implemented to help economically weaker yet meritorious sections of the society, financially. This scholarship benefits students belonging from class XII to Ph.D. level and other doctoral courses.

বিকাশ ভবন স্কলারশিপ পশ্চিমবঙ্গের উচ্চ শিক্ষা দপ্তর থেকে মেধাবী ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের দেওয়া হয়ে থাকে. এই স্কলার্শিপ কে স্বামী বিবেকানন্দ merit-cum-means স্কলার্শিপ ও বলা হয়. মাধ্যমিক, উচ্চমাধ্যমিক, গ্রাজুয়েশন পাস করা ছাত্র ছাত্রীরা এছাড়া মেডিকেল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং সমস্ত ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের পড়াশুনার জন্য বিকাশ ভবন স্কলারশিপ দেওয়া হয়ে থাকে.
কারা কারা বিকাশ ভবন কলারশিপ এর জন্য আবেদন করতে পারবেন?
- পারিবারিক আয় আড়াই লক্ষ টাকার কম হতে হবে.
- পশ্চিমবঙ্গের স্থায়ী বাসিন্দা হতে হবে.
- যে সমস্ত ছাত্র ছাত্রী এবছর পাস করেছে এবং নতুন ক্লাসে ভর্তি হয়েছে তারাই আবেদন করতে পারবেন.

Eligibility Criteria of the Scholarship:
The eligibility criteria for the Bikash Bhavan Scholarship are as follows:
- The applicant should be a resident of West Bengal and should be willing to pursue his/her higher studies from institutions situated in WB after passing out from the current year they are enrolled in. They should be pursuing the course in regular mode. Students opting for distance mode are not eligible for the Scholarship.
- They should belong to a family whose total annual income should not exceed 2.5 lacs. The income certificate should be issued by any gazetted officer (not below the rank of Joint BDO).
- Higher secondary students who are applicants should have passed madhyamik or equivalent exam with 75%.
- Graduation level students from any stream should have passed the higher secondary or equivalent exam with 75%.
- Post-graduation level students who obtained at least 53% marks in graduation level or last qualifying exam and received 45% for Kanyashree (K3 applicants).
- Undergraduate students from medical and diploma courses who passed the higher secondary or equivalent exam with at least 75%.
- Doctorate level students whose date of registration is not before 1st April 2017.
- If you are a dropout student whose year of last qualifying examination was 2020 then a field will appear. You will need to specify a valid reason for not applying for the scholarship the year before.

How to Apply for Bikash Bhavan Scholarship online at svmcm.wbhed.gov.in?
- Open the portal for application or click on this link svmcm.wbhed.gov.in.
- Click on the “New Registration” or “Student Registration” option from the ‘Students Area’.
- A page will appear asking you to fill in some relevant student information. Fill in the details.
- Fill up the details as asked for in the “Scheme Eligibility” section.
- Note down your user id and make sure the email id and phone number entered is valid. A password will be sent there.
- Go to the “Students’ Login” section and login with your user id and password. You may then change your password if you want.
- Under the “Basic Information” section and “Academic Section“, fill in all the details as asked.
- Upload necessary documents and verify your bank account information.
- Check and verify the application form before final submission under the “Lock Application” section. After clicking on “Lock application” you won’t be able to edit your details. You will need to cancel the whole application and reapply in case of a mistake.
- Print the application from the same section.
- Submit the generated Bikash Bhavan Scholarship Form along with all the necessary documents to your educational institution.

The Bikash Bhavan Scholarship Application Form must be accompanied along with the proper documents. The documents are given below –
- Mark sheet of the last qualifying examination.
- Admit card of madhyamik exam.
- Income certificate issued by any gazetted officer but not under the Join BDO level in the format as prescribed.
- Domicile certificate,
- ID Cards such as – Aadhar Card or Ration Card or Voter Card.
- Online admission receipt.
- Institute verification form duly verified by the Head of the Institution (HOI) in the prescribed format.
Bikash Bhavan Scholarship Renewal
For the renewal of student application, online registration is not required. Candidates can log in with their previous user id and password from the official website or click on this link svmcm.wbhed.gov.in for the renewal of the application.
If by mistake you have entered the wrong data during registration, you can cancel your application from the “Cancel Application” option. So, to avoid this hassle make sure to edit and verify your application before locking your application during final submission.
