The GP Birla education foundation scholarship is built on the dreams and aspirations of the late Shri G.P. Birla whose life and ambition had been dedicated to empowering the students of our country with quality education.
This scholarship is granted on a merit basis to students of West Bengal who have passed their 12th examination from any board including ICSE and CBSE in the year 2023.
Eligibility criteria for GP Birla Scholarship 2023
To apply for the G.P Birla Scholarship, the student must be a citizen of India and a resident of the West Bengal State and must have applied and sat for the examination from the state of West Bengal as well.
The percentage criteria which qualifies a student for this scholarship is at least 80% for a student of WBCHSE (West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education) and 85% or more foreign applicants from CBSE or ICSE (Central Board of Secondary Education and The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education respectively).
The candidate must also belong to a family whose total annual income is less than or equal to 3 lakhs rupees per annum.
However, exceptions to this eligibility criteria are entertained at the discretion of the Trustees if the candidate has obtained 95% or more in the state board and 97% or more in the CBSE or ICSE examinations.
Students opting for commerce, science, engineering, architecture, law, CA, cost accountancy, CS, arts, and medicine are eligible for the program.
GP Birla Scholarship Amount 2023
The Scholarship grant allotted to each candidate is a maximum of 50,000 INR per year. This amount is expected to also cover hostel fees along with the tuition fee.
An additional payment of 7000 INR is made for the study material required by the candidate.
The GP Birla Scholarship Amount is granted for 1 year initially and is continued to a maximum of 4 years if the candidate is found to be a correct fit and a great student in his or her stream of education.
