Voter ID Card Correction 2023 {Latest Method}: As you know, a Voter ID card is required to be presented at an electoral booth for an Indian citizen to be able to cast vote. Why do we need to correct Voter ID Card?
There can be instances when your name or other such information in the card is wrong or has been misspelt. In cases like this, correction can always be done. The correction process is available both offline and online. A person just needs to fill out the application form and submit it to the electoral office. It is also essential to attach supporting documents along with the application form. Any mistake in the card should be corrected as early as possible to avoid any unnecessary hassles. Procedure to register for Voter ID Card Correction on the official website
- First of all, go to the official website of the National Voters’ Services Portal of India or just use this link – www.nvsp.in.
- On the top right corner of the homepage, you will see 3 tabs. Click on the ‘Login’ tab to login into your account. If you haven’t registered earlier then you need to register first and then log in.
- If you haven’t registered, click on the option for a new registration on the login window.
- A page will appear asking for your mobile number. Enter it and enter the OTP. Keep in mind that it is case-sensitive so you need to be careful since both upper case and lower case alphabets can be present.
- Enter the OTP sent to the mobile number you entered and you will see a page asking for your name, Email ID, or password. Enter the details and click on ‘Register’.
- If you have an EPIC number then click on ‘I have EPIC number’. With this, you can enter your EPIC number, Email ID, and password to register.
Procedure to apply for correction in the Voter ID card
The following steps will only be applicable if you have registered earlier. So make sure to register (if you haven’t already), by the aforementioned steps.
- After registering, click on the login tab and log in using your registered mobile number, password, and captcha. There is also an option of ‘Forget Password’ in case you do not remember the password you used during registration.
- From the left-hand pane, click on the option “Correction in Personal Details”.
- A new page will appear. From this page, click on ‘Form 8’.
- You will be redirected to a page that will ask you to enter the details mentioned in the Voter ID card. This includes the state and constituency to which you belong, your name, gender, age, and so on.
- After you have entered all the details correctly, you will need to upload some supporting documents like a valid ID, your latest photograph, and also your identity proof.
- Then you have to choose the information that needs to be changed or corrected.
- Enter the name of the city you are making the correction request from.
- Mention the date of the request for correction as well in the space provided. Provide your contact information as asked for.
- Click on the ‘Submit’ tab after verifying the information that you previously entered.
Your application would then be reviewed by the Election Commission of India. If all the details entered are correct and genuine, the required changes will be made to your Voter ID card.
