The IPL Auction Date has yet to be announced by the BCCI. But, it will be released in the month of December. This auction is required to place team members on one of the IPL’s ten teams.
There is no such information about the players and their chosen team that from which team, which player will be playing in their support. So, according to the players and team preferences, the auctioneer or bidder can auction on the particular player or team as per their choice and favoritism.

Rules About Released & Retained Players:
Each team has the right to retain the players officially to the limit of 4 players whose franchise has not been chosen.
There can’t be more than 4 players to get retained such as a maximum of 2 players from overseas and 3 players from India. The rest of the players can be auctioned whose franchises have not been chosen. The retained player list has not been confirmed but is soon to be announced officially on several websites or articles pages for auction purposes.
Auction Price of Players in IPL 2024
The price list of players is decided by the team owners, who will be bidding on these players. The players are grouped into different categories and are then auctioned off to the teams that need them.
The IPL 2024 Auction Price List will be published once the auction ends. Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma are expected to be the expensive players in IPL 2024.

IPL 2024 Registered Players
For auction process, one player must be registered. Under the supervision of Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI), players have to register themselves.
As per IPL 2022 data, 1214 players had registered.
The number of Indian players registered was 896, with the number of international players remaining at 318.
Process of Auction of IPL 2024
There is a process of auction of IPL and its players 2024 such are as follow:
- When there is a confirmed list of players in IPL has been announced weeks before the IPL auction, according to the talents and playing style, several franchisees think and prepare the list of their team including those suitable players for their team.
- As per the decided or fixed budget of the team, the franchisee bids or auctions the players one by one for their services of players, those are categorized for each group.
- Thus, according to the signed amount of price and budget, the players are afforded for IPL auction.
