If you want to start an LPG dealership, then the first step is to acknowledge the requirement of distributorship in the area concerned. There are four types of LPG distributorships depending upon the area. They are as follows:
| Sheheri Vitrak | Dealers located in urban areas must be providing LPG to customers living within the municipal limits of the city or town. They are also allowed to provide for the ones living in an area specified by the concerned Oil Marketing Company. |
| Rurban Vitrak | Dealers provide LPG to people living within 15 Kilometers from the stated municipal limits. |
| Gramin Vitrak | Distributors falling under this category will provide LPG to rural customers. They should be covering villages located at a distance of 15 kilometers from the LPG distributorship location or as decided by the OMC concerned. |
| Durgam Kshetriya Vitrak | Dealers falling under the DKV type provide LPG for customers residing in remote or special areas. These are also the difficult areas where Gramin and Rurban Vitrak face issues in providing. |
Gas Agency Distributorship: Eligibility Criteria
The next step would be to check whether or not you are eligible for the dealership.
There are several criteria for eligibility as follows-
- It is mandatory for the candidate to be a resident of India.
- The candidate must have passed the 10th standard from a recognized institution. This criterion is, however, not applicable for the candidates belonging to the Freedom Fighter (FF) category.
- The applicant’s age must be between 21 to 60 years. This criterion, again, is not applicable for candidates belonging to the Freedom Fighter category.
- As of the date of application, the candidate must not be an employee or even a family member of OMC.

In the case of Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), there are mainly three distributors that dominate the business –
- Bharat Gas
- HP Gas
- Indane Gas

But the three mentioned above are the most trusted, in-demand dealerships that are also approved by the government. The requirement of distributors in a specific area is released by the OMCs through websites and newspapers. When New LPG Gas Dealership Advertisement 2022 will be released for All States?
As you know, a huge dealership vacancy for these three OMCs were released in 2018. After that, no LPG Gas agency dealership advertisement notification were released for such number of vacancies.
So, we can expect in 2022, a mass vacancy notification will be released for New LPG Gas Dealership by Indane Gas (IOCL), Bharat Gas (BPCL) and HP gas (HPCL). The date of notification has not been announced however.

The procedure to apply for an LPG gas agency is as follows:
- First of all, you need to go to the official website – www.lpgvitarakchayan.in.
- Click on the ‘Register’ tab on the homepage.
- You will be required to provide a valid mobile number where an OTP will be sent.
- After entering the OTP sent to the number, fill in the other details and create a profile for yourself.
- Watch out for advertisements. The latest advertisements about requirements (if any) can be checked from the ‘Important Link’ tab.
- You can apply for the dealership if you find an advertisement for a requirement in your location. Creating a profile earlier will thus make the application process easier and more convenient for you.
- You will then need to pay a non-refundable application fee.
How will you get the LPG Gas Dealership?
- Once you have applied, the authority will scrutinise your application.
- Then you will be notified about the status by an email or an SMS on your registered phone number.
- Once you are selected, you will have to appear for an interview.
- Field verification of the office and godown area will also be done.
- If you are selected, you will have to submit some documents and pay 10% of the security deposit.
- After approval of the documents submitted, the applicant will receive a Letter Of Intent (LOI).
- The OMC will notify you about the further steps and also give you proper training.
After that, you will be allowed to run an LPG gas agency.
